Art enables us to find ourselves and lose
ourselves at the same time.
Our CAS coordinate Ms.Vijalaxshmi informed us that there will be
an art exhibition held in our school and we can contribute to it. Our class and
DP-II class were divided into two groups. It was decided that we would make
clay models for the exhibition. I, Shraddha, Asmita and Bahiravi were one
group. Our supervisor of this activity
made us understand how to make the base and how to make the model correctly. To
make a proper clay model, first it is necessary to make a base. Once all four
of together made the base we split the work, so that it wouldn’t take too much
of time. We planned the activity and decided to split the work in ourselves.
Shraddha and asmita were going to make paper strips and apply the strips on the
base of the statue. Once the second base has being made by using paper and
paper strip, it was time that we would cover it with clay. Once we made the
clay, I and bhairavi started to apply the clay on our first model which we
made. Our goal was to make at least eight clay models. Once the first model was
done, we decided that we would exchange our duties. All four of us worked collaboratively with all the planning we did together to complete our goal. I also learned very basic technique or skill that is how to apply the paper strips properly on the base of the clay model. During the activity, there was no time when I felt that I am tired and I should just leave everything. I knew I had taken the responsibility of finishing the work and I showed my commitment towards it. While I was engaged in the activity I felt like a proper person who makes clay models every day. I realized how difficult it is to make the model properly and do the carvings on it. In the starting of the activity I thought that it’s a very messy task. But as I started the activity I realized that to do some work getting messy is necessary. I has fun while applying the clay on the base model. I wished that I could do this every day and then sell my clay models to the people. When I use to visit villages and see the people making such clay models, I use to think what value would clay have and why are these people wasting their time. As I did this activity myself I realized that it is also an art and it requires proper skills to do it. We worked according to our plan and finished five clay models by the end of the day. I was really happy and proud of myself that I could finish the goal. I had a really great experience and I hope that I get more chances of learning and experiencing new things.
Till then stay happy!
