French Day

French Day

Bonjour tout le monde!
French is one of the leading language in the world. In India it has been given the position of second language in many schools. It is said that learning a new language develops your critical and creative thinking skills. Learning new language makes us more aware about culture, lifestyle of that particular country. As French is one of the most required and used language it connects us to the world and increases our communication skills too.

“Without translation, I would be limited to the borders of my own country. The translator is my most important ally. He introduces me to the world.” --- Italo Calvino

I was informed by our school French teacher that we would be celebrating French day and that I would be translating in English for the audience.  I and my friend Himanshu decided that we would discuss the events for the program and accordingly I will translate it in English.  We worked together and decided what all events are being put up in the program.  After hosting few programs in my school I had confidence that this time I would do no mistakes and do it properly. During the show I realized that how important is to be attentive while the program is going on. What if there are any changes? Or if a problem arrives?  I felt responsible and confident that I was given a chance to this. From this activity I understand that how important language is for communication as well as it connects us from the rest of the world from its culture.

Everything is an art. We should try and understand it and learn to respect it, even though it’s on a small scale. After the program many teachers appreciated my work and said that I did really well better than last time. Though I didn’t really learn anything important but I believe from learning small things we reach on big things automatically. For me this activity was some way special because I felt as if I am working for an organization and I translate and connect one culture from the other one. I never thought I would realize that language which we don’t know yet connects us from the world.  I would try and convey what I have learned. Till then enjoy !
