Organizing sports day

We planned to organize a sport event for the primary students during the annual sports week. Our CAS coordinator Ms. Vijayalaxshmi informed Mr. Nair who was responsible for the whole event.  After informing, we got a list of students’ class wise and the events happening. All of us discussed and decided who was comfortably with which class and divided the work respectively.

Group D – Grade 6 – 7

I, Asmita and Shradha were responsible for group B that is grade 1-2. We were responsible for all the three days of the sports event. I had decided that no matter what happens, I will complete my goal at the end of this activity.
Day 1
All of us gathered in the basketball court for the primary sports week. The children also arrived and were made to settle down according to groups which we had made. All of us went to Ms. Ancina and asked her what we had to do in detail. Firstly there were no tracks made in the basketball court. The football ground wasn’t available which is why we had to conduct the primary sports week here. I, Asmita, Himanshu and Shafqat worked collaboratively to draw the lines with the help of chalk.

The tracks were necessary for athletic events. Therefore we made the tracks soon and started the sports day. The first event was frog race. As soon as the race was over for pre-primary students, it was time that the group B that is grade 1 and 2 had to participate. First we lined up all the students of grade one on the starting point of the race. I would be at the finish point holding the ribbon for the finish line and simply see the energy of these children and how they enjoy this race. It was big challenge for me to handle these kids. Although I had learned to handle these little children in my last activity, it came up as a new challenge for me. After grade one it was the turn of grade two students. After the frog race, it was time for the on leg race. In this race the children leg are supposed to run on one leg. It was great to see the competiveness in these children.

I was happy to know that these kids do realize that this is just a game and winning and losing will keep happening. This is what real sportsmanship is about. At the end of today I realized how I had an increase in my capacity to work and take care of these children. I was proud of myself that I could do all this. That’s it for day. Till then stay happy!
